By being a part of our program, ASU commits to providing NGSC students with base tuition coverage (for resident, WUE and nonresident students)  through a combination of ASU scholarships and grants (not including privately funded scholarships, loans, or federal grants like Pell Grants.)

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the PSA Scholarship renewable?
Yes. Each year, the amount is reevaluated based on a student’s annual financial package from ASU. Our award is offered for up to 8 consecutive semesters as a first time freshman and 4 consecutive semesters as a transfer student.

Does the PSA Scholarship cover room and board?
Our program does not cover room and board or other associated fees.
As the awards come from the same internal ASU fund, students cannot allocate the PSA Scholarship to cover tuition and designate another award (like the New American University Awards) to go towards other costs. Our award is distributed as a bulk sum in a student’s account and goes towards the charged balance a student has in his or her account.

Does the PSA Scholarship include department fees or Barrett fees in ‘tuition’?
No. The PSA Scholarship ensures base tuition coverage, so that is the amount we use in calculations for resident, nonresident and WUE students

Is everyone guaranteed funding for being in the NGSC?
ASU commits to providing NGSC students with base tuition coverage (for resident, WUE and nonresident students) through a combination of ASU scholarships and grants. However, if a student is already receiving more ASU gift aid than their full base tuition, no additional funds will be distributed to the student for participation in our program.

When does the award get placed in a student’s account?
As our award is a ‘last-in’ award, the PSA Scholarship will be loaded to students’ accounts in August, close to the first day of courses. However, students can use the above calculation to accurately estimate what their award will be.

Does the PSA Scholarship cover Summer courses?
No. Our award only is disbursed for Fall and Spring semesters.
